It was said that 1300 years ago, the Emperor of Tang dynasty Lizhi was busy with government affairs after ascending the throng. The Old Book of the Tang Dynasty recorded:“the emperor was suffered from bitterness wind disease”. Through the textual research of the modern medicine, wind disease is the hypertension (there was no blood-pressure meter in ancient times). Its main symptoms were headache and dizziness. The serious ill had unclear vision. The emperor wasn’t able to be in power finally because of the disease, then caused the history of Wu Zetian seized the throne. It was said that Lizhi’s mother had ever suffered from the same disease. At that time, the archiater Sun Simiao cured her by the method of clearing the liver and draining the fire, nourishing the liver and kidney. For that, the former emperor conferred him as “the King of Medicine”. Later, Sun Simiao refused to be the archiater any more but was buried alive. During that time, he wrote Invaluable Prescriptions for Emergencies and left it behind.
